Live now playing data for Radios 1, 2, 1Xtra and 6Music featuring track information, MusicBrainz artist IDs and programme identifiers for /programmes.

Point your XMPP pubsub client at pubsub.hug.hellomatty.com you'll find a node for each of our national stations: /home/hug.hellomatty.com/radio1/nowplaying, /home/hug.hellomatty.com/radio2/nowplaying etc...

We have brought the last month of BBC Radio with us to Mashed!
This is only accessible from mashed for the duration of the event, by joining our wireless network:

For the duration of Mashed, we are making live MPEG Audio streams of BBC Radio over HTTP.

We've been matching the tracks played on-air

• to MusicBrainz so we have a unique identifier for each artist
• to programme data so that we know which brands (i.e. shows, djs) the track was played on.

This let's us produce a term space of which artists played on each brand, and the number of times that they were played by that brand. Use this for powering recommendation engine (e.g. recommend programmes brands from a last.fm account), or building some visualisations.

The dataset is available here. (Based on playout data for Radio1, 1Xtra, Radio2 and 6Music from September 2007 until mid-June 2008)

NEW: We've done the same for episodes/artist data.

We have built a list of genres for MusicBrainz artists, based on editorial data entered for bbc.co.uk/music.
